Safety & privacy

The honest part, up front.

Mental-health support only earns trust by being clear about what it is – and what it isn't. Here's exactly where AITherapist helps, where it stops, and how we protect you.

If you need help now

AITherapist is not a crisis service.

If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach a person now. In the US, contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline – call or text 988 – or call 911 for any emergency.

☎ Call or text 988  ·  🚑 Call 911 for emergencies

Outside the US, please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line near you. You deserve real, human support – and it's available.

What AITherapist does
  • Connects to your licensed therapist (with your consent) so care stays consistent between sessions.
  • Offers a calm space to talk and think things through.
  • Guides journaling and mood check-ins so you notice patterns.
  • Shares coping and grounding exercises when you need them.
  • Points toward human help – the 988 Lifeline and licensed therapists.
  • Keeps your reflections private and yours.
What it never does
  • Never gives a diagnosis.
  • Never prescribes or recommends specific medication.
  • Never replaces a licensed therapist.
  • Never handles emergencies – always use 988 or 911.
  • Never sells your data or shows you ads.
Privacy by design

What you share stays yours.

Conversations about your inner life are about as personal as it gets. We're building AITherapist to treat them that way.

🔒

Encrypted & protected

Your conversations and journals are being built to be encrypted in transit and at rest.

🚫

Never sold, never ads

We design the product so we can't sell your data or mine it for advertising. That's a line we won't cross.

🗑️

You're in control

You choose what to share and can delete your data. Your reflections belong to you.

About connecting your therapist: the therapist link is opt-in and consent-based. You decide whether to connect, exactly what is shared back (such as mood trends and summaries), and you can pause or unlink at any time. Sharing your information with a clinician you choose is being built to align with HIPAA-grade privacy practices – and it never happens without your explicit consent.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Is AITherapist a therapist or a crisis service?
No. AITherapist is an evidence-informed AI mental-health companion in development that works alongside your real therapist. It is not a licensed therapist, not a medical device, and not a crisis service. It does not diagnose or treat conditions and is not a substitute for professional care. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) or call 911.
Can I connect AITherapist to my own therapist?
Yes, that is the core idea. AITherapist is designed to link to your real, licensed therapist with your consent, so the support you get between sessions follows their approach and, if you allow it, mood trends and session summaries are shared back to them. Connecting is optional and can be paused or unlinked at any time, and nothing is shared without your consent. It extends your therapist's care, it does not replace it.
Is AITherapist available yet?
Not yet. AITherapist is pre-launch and in active development. You can join the free early-access waitlist to get priority access and gentle product updates when it goes live.
What will AITherapist never do?
AITherapist is designed to never diagnose a condition, never prescribe or recommend medication, never replace a licensed therapist, and never try to handle an emergency. When someone appears to be in crisis, it surfaces the 988 Lifeline and encourages reaching a real person right away instead of trying to manage it alone.
How is my data handled?
AITherapist is built privacy-first: your conversations and journals are encrypted in transit and at rest, and we design the product so we do not sell your data or use it for advertising. You stay in control of what you share and can delete your data.
What should I do in a crisis?
Do not use AITherapist for emergencies. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) or call 911. Outside the US, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line near you.
