How it works

Your therapist, extended to 24/7.

Most mental-health AI tries to replace the therapist. AITherapist does the opposite: it connects to yours. With your consent, your licensed therapist shapes how it supports you and stays in the loop – so the care you already trust simply doesn't stop when the session ends.

The connection

Four steps to one continuous thread of care.

1

Your therapist connects – with your consent

You invite your licensed therapist to link to your AITherapist. It's opt-in on both sides, transparent about what's shared, and you can unlink at any moment. No therapist? It helps you find one first.

2

It's set to their approach

Your therapist configures how AITherapist supports you – the methods, the exercises, the boundaries, the things to gently steer you toward or away from. It reinforces your actual treatment instead of freelancing.

3

It's there between sessions, 24/7

The 2am spiral, the pre-meeting dread, the small win worth marking – AITherapist listens, grounds you with your therapist's tools, and helps you carry the work forward until you meet again.

4

Your therapist sees the whole week

With your consent, it shares mood trends and session-ready summaries back to your therapist – a monitored, human-guided presence, so nothing important gets lost between appointments.

🧩

1 · Evidence-informed reflection

Conversations shaped by ideas from cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness – noticing thoughts, gently questioning them, and grounding in the present. Informed by these methods, not a substitute for structured treatment.

🕊️

2 · Always available

Hard moments rarely keep office hours. AITherapist is there at 2am or on a Sunday – a steady, patient presence for the time between appointments, or before you've booked one.

🔒

3 · Private by design

What you share is sensitive, and we treat it that way. AITherapist is being built so your reflections are encrypted and yours – never sold, never mined for ads.

👁️

4 · Never unsupervised

A licensed human stays in the loop. Your therapist can review between-session patterns and step in – AITherapist extends their care, it never operates as your clinician on its own.

Limits, on purpose

The most caring thing an AI can do is know its limits.

Extending a therapist's care only works if the AI is honest about what it is and hands off the instant a moment is bigger than a companion should hold.

  • Honest framing from the first message: it's an AI companion working with your therapist, not a therapist itself or a diagnosis.
  • Crisis awareness – signs of risk surface the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and encouragement to reach a person now.
  • Escalates to your human – urgent patterns can alert your connected therapist, and it never discourages professional care.
  • No diagnoses, no prescriptions – strictly out of scope; it reinforces your treatment, it doesn't invent one.

For therapists

Be there for your clients between the sessions.

You can only be in the room 50 minutes a week. AITherapist lets you extend your care safely into the other 10,000 minutes – on your terms, under your oversight.

  • Set the approach. Configure the methods, tone, and boundaries so it reinforces your treatment plan – not a generic chatbot's.
  • See between-session reality. Mood trends and concise, session-ready summaries (with client consent) so you walk in already informed.
  • Catch drift early. Patterns worth your attention surface to you, so you can reach out before the next appointment when it matters.
  • Stay in control. Clear scope limits, crisis-aware escalation to 988, and a client who consents to and controls every share.

What guides the build

Careful, on purpose.

The unglamorous commitments are the ones that keep people safe.

Evidence-informed by CBT & mindfulness Encryption in transit & at rest No ads · no data sales Clear scope limits Crisis-aware escalation to 988 Human therapists stay central Reviewed with mental-health advisors You control your data

These describe how AITherapist is being designed during development. AITherapist is not a medical device, is not FDA-cleared, and is not a substitute for professional care. Working with mental-health advisors and building safe, private data practices are part of our pre-launch roadmap.
